Rustic Inn Creekside Resort & Spa

Jackson, Wyoming

One of the challenges I’ve found in Jackson is that price does not always align with experience. Some properties are exceptionally expensive, yet still fail to create the atmosphere or emotional warmth I’m looking for. You can stay closer to the ski mountain for convenience, of course, but convenience and romance are not always the same thing — and romance, even when traveling alone, is something I still look for in a place.

I’ve stayed at several hotels in Jackson over the years, yet the one I continue returning to is The Rustic Inn Creekside Resort.

The cabins are not hidden deep in untouched wilderness, nor are they the grandest accommodations in town. In fact, the property sits surprisingly close to a busy roadway. Yet somehow, once inside the cabins, that reality quietly disappears.

The cabins are nestled closely together, which might seem as though it would diminish the experience, but the layout is thoughtfully designed in a way that still feels intimate and peaceful.

One of my favorite stays there was during a snowy December weekend — after the summer park crowds had disappeared but before ski season fully arrived. The temperature dropped to nearly minus five outside yet from inside, I could hear the creek flowing while snow settled quietly outside the windows.

There is also something deeply comforting about being able to walk into town on a cold Wyoming evening, then return to a warm cabin afterward. The contrast between the sharp mountain air outside and the glow of the cabin waiting for you at the end of the night becomes part of the memory itself.
